Why do cling to the sides of the boat?
Why do you stare at the storm?
Why are the oars and your strength what will save you?
I am here.
Right beside you.
In the boat.
You’re not alone.
I am the master of the wind and the waves.
I walk on water, they know my name.
So keep looking at me, don’t stare at the storm.
I am here.
Right beside you.
In the boat.
You’re not alone.
It’s so easy to feel overwhelmed and afraid,
As the boat is tossed in the wind and the waves.
You feel out of control, like you are going to drown.
I am here.
Right beside you.
In the boat.
You’re not alone.
I could calm the storm all around you,
Saying, “Peace, be still!” Ending the fear,
I also could say, “Let go of the boat, keep looking at me,
I am your salvation and I’m near.” For…
It is not the wood of the boat that can save you.
It is not the strength of the oars or your stroke.
It is knowing this truth as you endure through the storm:
I am here.
Right beside you.
In the boat.
You’re not alone.
